Restored Antique “Lift a Car” jack Floor Lamp Creation
About the Product
This is a car guy or gal’s dream addition to their vintage car garage!
This 1920’s car jack got fitted with a 1920’s garage shade, and all the materials in between to make this a lamp! Check out the pull chain switch! After taking the jack completely apart and cleaning it meticulously, we then sealed and preserved the existing patina that was hidden under all those years of use. At the right angle, you can see the radiance of the green paint that was hidden under all that rust.
The jacks’ handle was locked into position by a handmade bracket. A bridge was also fabricated to hold the shade and wiring. An old pipe “T” was used to hold the antique electrical switch, so it could be turned on and off. The original “Lift A Car” label is located at the top of the pipe that holds the shade. The shade pivots about 60 degrees, to fit your lighting directional needs.
You can see the hand bent pipe to hold the wiring, shade, and switch. You can also see the swivel action between the shade and the pipe “T”. The dimples and rust in the shade add to the original industrial look of this piece. This lamp is bright! The reflection of the light on the white interior of the shade magnifies the power of the glow.
