Brass Student Lamp

Table Lamp

This brass student lamp, dated 1879, was found in an old barn.

The base and the vertical pipe were both damaged beyond repair, but Bob just happened to have another antique brass base and pipe that matched almost perfectly.

As you can see the patina was in a horrible condition, so every piece had to be removed and buffed out individually.   

Over the years, mud daubers had found a perfect home inside the shade of the lamp.

Here is the lamp completely restored. The replacement base is a perfect match. Since these pieces have been buffed out, they will form the same patina as they gracefully age.
