In 1984, A close friend of Bob's was paralyzed in a Jeep accident.  Paul, an athlete, was paralyzed from the chest down. Because of calcium deposits building up in his joints, Paul was in desperate need to excerise to avoid amputation. Bob developed this device which allows for a paralpylegic person to exercise unassisted.
